Yesterday, It was the day of the release of the very new video of Kid Kasio. Gosh, this is amazing how much I love his music.
Im a kid of the 80s and even if Im a rock chick, I still have feelings for the music I used to hear when I was a kid and Kid Kasio know how to make you feel good with his 80s music in the years 2000.
Just have a look at the video and you'll be back in the 80s. Just the phone at the beginning of the video brings me back to my childhood, my parents had this telephone and I loved to dial the numbers when they had to phone someone!
Telephone Line was the 1st song I've listened to after downloading his album and it's probably my fave... Well to be honest, I love 90% of the songs so.... :p
Don't you wish all the drummers had a drumkit as bright as this one in the video?

Kid Kasio brought back the 80s in our world and I love it!!!
Since this monday, you can buy online the new and very first EP of the band Raptusound . From My Hands is composed by 4 songs : Alibi (which is my favorite since I know them!), Wasted, Always Ready, Truth Not Fashion. This EP begins with a big and good sound of synthesizer of Leigh on the song Alibi, then the voice of Christopher joins the music, like a complaint, like a man screaming his pain. You can imagine him in the studio hands on the headphone and eyes closed. The synthesizer comes back between each verses like a lively chorus asking you to dance and feel happy. This sound is really my favorite but I always think that it's too short!!! Alibi is followed by Wasted which is so much calmer, the voice is also quite different, using differents microphones and singing more slowly give a new perspective to the voice, Christopher is one of this singer who can use his voice in all sort of range and you can feel it in this song. You can feel the emotion thanks to the harmony of all the instrument for the last minute of the song. I honestly imagine a very dark videoclip for this song... Always Ready is the kind of indie song you can find in a lot of EP. Attention, Im saying it's a bad song, just that it's THE indie song of the EP and I think that despite the good harmony in the song and the voice, this song sounds a little bit too much like a lot of indie rock songs but it's one song over 4. But the lyrics are quite pretty. :) The last song, Truth Not Fashion is the dancing song of the EP, beginning with a good guitar riff that gives you the rythm of the song, les lyrics are quite interesting and you just wanna sing them like a big karaoke and move your body at the same time. I like the synthesizer takes his place in the chorus following by the guitar and the bass while the drums is bigger and better. I really like the harmony of all the instruments in all the songs of this EP and you can feel that the guys put everything they have to autoproduce it all by themselves. This EP must and will be followed by a lot of others. It's a real good beginning for this young band. From My Hands is the positive things with what the band will finish the year 2012. I heard about FC-20 around February of this year when they were playing the same night as MovE in Leicester. Then my Leicesterian's friends told me about them again and told me about their kind of sound and said I should have a listen, etc... And to be honest, I absolutely not a fan of the band where there is a singer and a rapper!!! So I, a little bit, ignore their advice even if in that band, there was now a guy I "know"! Yeah I know, if I write about the band now is that because, well let's be honest, I was wrong!!!! I finally saw the band, LIVE, at the end of April when I went back to Leicester (again and again) to see Modern Faces's gig. FC-20 was one of the support band with The Vanishing Point. And yup, I was blown away!!! This band found the perfect combination between rap and singing! I was with a friend and her husband and when we talked after the gig, they told me that they were usually like me with the "rap and singing's bands" but they also totally fell in love with FC-20 so they confirmed me in my opinion: FC-20 have something special!
FC-20 is a band from the famous Camden in the North of London. Formed in 2009, they completed the formation this year and came back in action at the same time, they're now gigging the most they can in London and the Leicester area. They're gonna be playing every last saturday of the month at their own party with differents unsigned bands (some of those bands are in my blog ;) ) and they're trying to export their music to play gigs outside UK. The band is: Simon Webb at the Vocals (singing) Arnold Priddie at the Vocals (Rap) George Dean at the bass Scottie Stewart at the Drums Asa Brown at the keyboard Jean-Paul Reilly at the Guitar I would describe their music as alternative electro indie rock! I really think this is a band who have everything to show you live and I swear you won't be disappointed. FC-20is what we called in french "un groupe en devenir"
Marner Brown is a band I discovered last year because of the featuring they made with KAV, I mean THIS song =>
I thought I would never been able to see them for real, I mean live, sweaty, jumping, playing, singing, screaming ; followed by their funny and hyper manager but I did, I finally did this summer and they were absolutely GREAT and sooo nice!
Marner Brown is a band from Richmond and now leaves in Twickenham. They formed in 2007 and is composed by:

Those guys are so cool that they already support Babyshambles and Ocean Color Scene. And They became models and performed for Lee Cooper and Quicksilver. Even Ron Wood has been impressed by them and Paul Weller let them use his personnal studio and now they're gonna use the studio of The Charlatans! This guys are playing a pure indie rock, full of energy and good old guitares. They write and play with a real passion for music and you can feel it by listening to their song and you can see it when they're on a stage. If you see their name on a flyer somewhere, run to the gig, you won't be disappointed! Im sorry, Im a little bit late to post this "news"but when the pc is dead, the only solution you have is .... wait!!! So, Just to show you that the video for the 2nd single taken from Kav's forthcoming album has been released in August. The single, King of The World (The Undefeated Champion), will be released this month (September) . The video has been shot and directed by Martin J Pickering and is starring 2 Pro Figthers Lee Coville and Jarek Maryszczak. You'll find the usual characteristic rock and the amazing voice of Kav.
In few days, Little Night Terrors will released their new single "Young Lion". Another of their great work. Once again, it's a single totally write and recorded by themselves and a video is going with the single. This video has been made by their friend Keown Photography aka Young Lion with a mix of images of the gig they made, earlier in the year, at the Leicester O2 Academy.
You can find 3 songs in this new EP. The song "Young Lion", the new exclusive song "These Darlings" and an instrumental version of "Young Lion".
Young Lion has always been one of my favorite song from the band, can't really explain why but this pop added with vitamins makes it one of the best song they could ever done at the moment. They put some dynamites in this music and the voice is just the high point of the song. I think that Andrew's voice is one of the biggest force of the band to make you love the songs. These Darlings is a mellow song, a song that makes you love your neighbour and want to hug him/her.And honestly, don't tell me that you don't wanna clap your hands in rythm while listening to it! Im sure they could have made a single of this song. Im usually not a big fan of instrumental songs but I must admit that this is perfect for a karaoke or if you want to learn how to play the song with your guitare. There is no word(s) to describe how much I love this guys and how much I want them to be bigger and bigger...
Don't forget that they're gonna be on tour again! ;)
And another band I discovered thanks to the wonderful Shell Zenner and her radios shows. Few weeks ago, she played a song by this band called Allo Dalin' and I literally fell in love with their sound and the voice of the singer.
So I searched for them on Facebook to have more information and listened to their other songs on their Bandcamp page.
This band is not 100% English! Allo Darlin' is : Elizabeth Morris who writes the songs, sings, and plays the ukelele Paul Rains who plays guitars, lapsteel and sings Bill Botting who plays bass and sings Mikey Collins who plays the drums and sings Elizabeth and Bill are from Australia and the 2 others, Paul and Mikey, are from Kent. They formed the band in January 2009. They already released an album in June 2010 and the 2nd one "Europe" has been released in May 2012. They use to be quite often on tour and have already played UK, Europe and America. They're playing a good and fun Pop/folk where the voice of Elizabeth is drifting slowly on the music. They're again on Tour and will, this time, play in Australia before coming back to play in Europe. And I will be lucky to see them in Paris on 23rd November. :)
Here is another band from Leicester!! I heard of them last year during the Oxjam festival in Leicester (where I was of course). I couldn't see their whole set but I saw 2 or 3 songs. I quite liked what I heard but there was sooo many good bands on that day that I couldn't meet everybody!!!
Then a friend of mine asked me to promote a gig where they were playing so I had another listen to this band and suddenly remembered what I heard live and since I wanted to introduce them here but as you could notice, I was too busy out of the internet world and was unable to promote my new loves!!!!
Raptusound is a brand new band, they formed after last summer so they're going to celebrate their First year as a band and what a first year it was!!!!

They're playing and electro-rock music. If you were fan of Muse when they begun or even Radiohead then you might adore their music. Their sound is loud but melodic at the same time, once you heard a song, you wanna hear the others. Of course, Christopher's voice is what makes you feel like flying with the birds while you're just listening to some music. You can NOT move your head on the rythm of Raptusound's music.
If Top of The Pops was still active (here in France) I would love to see them on that stage surrending by red, pink and orange lights.

They're quite often on stage since they begun, they will be playing twice during the Strawberry Fields Festival. One electic set and one accoustic and I think that everybody should see the 2 sets.
For the moment, my favorite song is Alibi which you can hear on the following video. But I don't know all of their songs yet! ;)
If you remember, I spoke on this blog about a nice young man called Danny Greet.
I told you about his solo career after being in a band called The Manhattan Project. Well, now Danny is back with 2 ex-members of the band and they are now The Vanishing Point.
I've been lucky enought to be able to see them playing their first gig in Leicester as a support band for Modern Faces and I can tell you that they should be signed by a label.
The Vanishing Point is composed by:

John Molnar at the Bass, Guitar and Vocals
Sid Barrett at the drums.
They're playing a good angry loud rock with a bit of pop and a few folk's bit hiding somewhere.

If you're in the Leicestershire's area, you can always see them at a gig as they're quite often on the bill of several venues in Leicester. :)

Yesterday an amazing news has been announced ; KAVis gonna open for Kasabian at the 02 Brixton Academy's sold out gig in August the 20th.
But he and his band won't be the only support band. Alongside KAV, the other support act is the famous Band of Skulls, a band I love from their very beginning and I've been lucky enough to see them everytime they were in Paris.
I hope this gig will bring a lot of good and positives things toKAV. Im just very sad I won't be able to be there....

In few weeks, the Strawberry Fields Festival will "re-open" his doors for a 3rd edition. I've been able to be at this festival last year, but unfortunately (and because of the day job), only for the Saturday, that's why I didn't review what I saw there BUT it was a brilliant and great festival. I know that here, we hear more about Glastonbury, V Festival or Reading but there's a lot of other great festivals and Strawberry Fields Festival is one of them! This festival is becoming bigger each year and this year, it has an even more amzing line_up than last year.
By reading this blog, you know how the Leicestershire is important in my life and this festival has become the little point where I can have fun and see all my "lovers" sharing the stages! Oh yeah, they need to become more and more and more important and I know that maybe not next year, but soon, they will be named as one of the "NOT TO BE MISSED FESTIVAL".
I have discovered Mr Tom few months ago while listening to the stunning Shell Zenner on radio. She played their song "feet hit the floor" and I literaly loved what I heard!
Mr Tom are this kind of bands, formed by a bunch of friends who play music for the fun but who knows how to keep it seriously.
Mr Tom is formd Nick Crowe, Steve Colver, Lee Marcer and Dom Andrew, they're from Southampton and New Forest in the South of England.
I can't say a lot about this guys, because unfortunatelly, I never saw them live yet but I can tell you that they tour a lot in England! Maybe one day, They will cross the channels and invade France!
I know that when you read my blog you can see that I am more a Rock Chick than a Disco Queen but I was born at the very beginning of the 80s so I grew up with the sound coming from the synthesizers and the videoclips full of colours.
2 years ago, I went to the cinema with my friend to see the movie "Tamara Drewe" , if you saw this movie, you know that there is a band called Swipe in this movie . After seeing this movie I couldn't stop singing one of the song call "Where are you now", I bought the songs and after few days, I needed to know who was the other members of Swipe ( The drummer is one of the important characters of the movie, played by Dominic Cooper ). Then I realised that those songs has been written by Dominic and his brother Nathan who is at the Keyboard for Swipe!!! I needed to find out more about his own skills and finally discovered his solo project Kid Kasio.
So Kid Kasio is Nathan Cooper who was before in the band The Modern (now know as Matinée Club) , and before again in other few little bands. He left that band to live his dream and become Kid Kasio.
If you love the sound that we used to hear in the 80s then you must love Kid Kasio music. If you like Duran Duran, A-ha, Depeche Mode, Hurts, La Roux, Mirrors, then you MUST love Kid Kasio! His music is full of synthesizers and robot voices, you can listen to one song without feelings your legs tickling and your feet moving in rythm. Personnaly I feel like I want to jump into my trainers and put my pink cap and t-shirt on and sing!
His first album, KASIOTONE, has been released at the end of January and is avalaible on Itunes , amazon , Emusic, Nokia, Tesco, and if you want a cd, just ask him!
